Daydream View is Google’s lightweight mobile VR headset that is powered by a smartphone. It features a 90 degree field of view and weighs only 220 grams. It works with the Pixel, Galaxy S8 and S8+, Galaxy Note 8, ZenFone AR, Moto Z Force, and a few other phones. The Daydream View is meant to compete with Samsung’s Gear VR device as a beginner headset at a reasonable price.
A complete “standalone” (no smartphone required) headset is currently under development and expected to launch next year. Google is partnering with HTC and Lenovo to manufacture these new devices.
