DisplayLink XR is a 60GHz wireless VR device for head mounted displays that eliminates the need for tethering. Bulky wires are a serious limitation in VR right now, so wireless accessories will greatly expand the potential for VR applications. The XR was featured at E3 for public demos and is currently under development. The company is partnering with hardware manufacturers such as HTC rather than producing the device on their own.
